How it all started

Many people who work in technical jobs did not study computer science or data science. Neither did we. We were two guys in sales jobs with the ambition of becoming analysts in strategy and maybe a data scientist.

Because of that, we both decided to upskill ourselves to gain the technical skills required to apply for these data-heavy roles. While going through this process, we quickly realised that it was incredibly frustrating and inefficient.

The main way to learn how to code is through online pre-recorded courses, which are incredibly boring to go through alone. The content is super dry, and the instructors have (sorry, not sorry) below-average presentation skills.

To top it off, the content is often too basic and doesn't reflect the reality of how you’ll work with data at top technology companies such as Google, Amazon, and Salesforce.

There must be a better way to learn. Yes, there is.

Fast forward a year — after we landed our dream jobs, we looked back on that terrible learning experience and knew there had to be a better way.

Based on our own learning journey and our experience working as analysts at Google and Salesforce, we began designing the concept for Cognitas.tech, built around two key elements:

Learn through small, live interactive sessions with expert instructors
No more pre-recorded videos or learning alone. We focus on live sessions in small groups to create a highly interactive environment that’s fun, engaging, and allows you to ask questions when you get stuck.

Courses designed based on real-world experience in top companies
Each course is built around what you actually need to know to use the skill in a professional setting. Our content is a consolidation of a combined 12 years of experience in technical roles.
